The oldest park in Sendai City, opened in 1875. There are walking paths along the eastern bank of the Hirose River and lawn areas where you can enjoy nature while still being close to the city center.
It is divided into north and south areas across Hirose-dori Avenue, and on the south side is Gengo Chaya (Gengo tea house), where you can enjoy Sendai’s famous food Zunda mochi, and on the north side there is a huge Kokeshi doll tower and a steam locomotive exhibit.
Passing from Omachi Nishi-koen Station on the south side to the steam locomotive exhibit area on the north side, you can reach Kotodai-koen Station via Jozenji-dori Avenue, famous for its zelkova trees.
During the competition period, the area is in the beautiful season of fresh greenery, and you can enjoy the "City of Trees, Sendai” in a 30-minute walk.
