Why not try writing in Japanese with ink and brush? Our volunteers will help you come up with a Japanese representation of your name. Traditional Japanese culture has elevated even the act of writing to a spiritual discipline. The experience of writing unique Japanese characters with sumi ink and a brush will serve as a meaningful souvenir of your stay in Sendai.
Would you like to try playing a traditional Japanese instrument?
A replica of the helmet and armor worn by Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai clan, will be on display. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try on the armor and experience what it was like to be a military commander 400 years ago.
Bon-seki is a traditional Japanese art form that expresses the Japanese view of nature on a black tray. We will guide you through the process of creating bon-seki from scratch, so please come and try it for yourself!
A variety of Japanese toys will be on display. We will show you how to play with them, so please feel free to come and try them out!
